okay. well I have extremely thick frizzy hair. and I was wondering what shampoos and conditioners I should use to weigh it down a bit.
I got a Magic Straight like 3 weeks ago and it was great when I first got it but after a few showers my hair started to frizz up. And I noticed that it was really damaged like CRAZY damaged so I used some spray.
It worked for the most part until the next time I shower but the spray caused my scalp to dry up and cause flakes.
so any input on shampoo and conditioner ?
thanks.
I was thinking about the Loreal Vive Pro Smooth and silky (I think) for medium thick hair. Any input on that ?

i have thick hair too. something a lot of people dont know about thick hair is that, it responds and looks its best when its optimally healthy. im guessing Magic Straight is a relaxer, and that does damage hair like crazy, thereby creating frizz.
Start by making it healthier, and you need to use a protein reconstructor for that, once a week. You shampoo, apply, leave it in your hair for about a day, then rinse it out the next day with shampoo. and dont forget to condition afterwards
no, oils and 'deep conditioners' dont give back to your hair the protein its been stripped of, they only make the hair feel nicer. in that sense, its good to use conditioner to make hair more manageable but certainly you need something to repair damage.
In my experience, ive tried nexxus emergencee and joico k-pac reconstructor. both work well, although i prefer emergencee. redken also has protein reconstructors 濯抩u can look into. protein reconstructors are a bit expensive but they really save your hair.
and, they REALLY weigh your hair down. they load it up with protein, weighing it down more than any shampoo or conditioner.
here are some reviews for protein reconstructors:

Don't worry about it. You are a good looking lady. Only thing you could do to be prettier, is wear glasses.

thick hair is gorgeous!
just make sure you use a shampoo that doesn't dry out your scalp or make it too oily. healthy hair is best :D

I understand your dilemma. Use Pantene Pro V for thick hair which will clean and moisturize it properly them use a conditioner. This will keep your hair strong. Now to keep the frizziies down, I would use a Ceramic Flat iron. It doesn't damage ur hair as much as a reg flat iron or curling iron and it keeps ur hair str8 for a long time. Even in humid conditions.

Go to sally's beauty supply or supply that you can get to and buy SILK conditioner and shampoo................or WELLA IN-DEPTH in a jar conditioner put it on you hair and cover with plastic for 1 hour..... you need to condition your hair alot to keep it from breaking more.....If you had the straight done at a salon go back to the operator and have her fix it...she should do it for no charge..... no drug store stuff is going to help you......GOOD LUCK

Ok my hair is very thick and kinda frizzy too and I've tried everything to control it, all shampoos and all conditioners. And you know what, all shampoos are the same, some have a fancier name then others. I ended up using simply VO5 shampoos and conditioners. They are considerably inexpensive, they smell great and they leave my hair great. To hydrate it I use Motions Oil Moisturizing (moisturizes hair and scalp, leaves no flakes and no build-up) You can buy it at Sally's or Walmart. Gel and spray just burn my hair and dry it out, so I use regular conditioner to bring the frizz down. If you don't like the wet look the conditioner leaves, you can blow dry it. I just leave it in and wash it out every two days. Contrary to popular belief, If you leave in non-leave in conditioner, it won't damage your hair. Last time I went for a haircut the stylist told me my hair looks really healthy and I don't have split ends.
