Sometimes when you color your hair blonde it can damage the hair and allow it to not accept color as well. When the hair is damaged it will not take color. Here is a suggestion, get a semi-permanent color apply to the highlights(old highlights) Put a plastic bag over your hair and blowdry it.The heat will help the cuticle of the hair open and you will have a better chance of the hair accepting some color. You may have to do this a few times before the color will actually hold.It should work though.

Get it professionally dyed. It is worth the extra $$ and much easier on your hair!

it is probably washing out and the blonde coming through makes it that "off" color. it is best to pay the $ for a pro, they usually know what they are doing...and i am a cheap skate but the pro for hair is one thing that is worth it...

Do you have city/county water or well water?Surprisingly the quality of our water affects the health, and the color of our hair. Well water, and sometimes city water, is chemically treated with chlorine, which will strip your hair color. It is also infused with minerals such as calcium, which will also strip your hair and cause it to become weak and the color to become dull.Try using a shower head with a water purification system. I think you can find them at Bed Bath and Beyond.
