I also happen to have the same hair type as yours and mine can be hard to curl as well. What I use is Suave Root Lifter Spray Gel and I spray it at the roots of my hair: Keep in mind, your hair has to be wet for this to work, many people don't do this, that's why their hair doesn't curl as well. Then I apply mousse, John Frieda Corrective Styling Mousse. After this, you dry your hair more, with a towel, and layer by layer, put your hair into a bun and hold it in place with scrunchies. Briskly apply hairspray or my favorite, L.A. Looks Defining and Frizz Control Gel. Although this is a big list, these products won't damage your hair or dry it except if you use too much hairspray, so don't be afraid to put on too much of any of these products. The final step, go to sleep and when you wake up in the morning, take off the scrunchies and put on more gel liberally and there you have it, perfectly curled hair. Trust me, this will work.

the only fast way is with a curling iron. The best way to do it is still with curlers or even pin curls and a hair dryer. That takes much longer though but it turns out better

Well i have a few sugggestions.

1. Try a curling iron by Conair. It works aweesomlyyy and very fast too. Get the one with the curl rims already on it.

2. I have a lot of split ends from using too much heat on my hair so i use GARNIER FRUCTIC SOFT CURL CREAM. It give you supple curls that loookkk so natural and very beautifuuuul. Try that seriouldy. It always workkks for me. But im not sure it might 100% work fpr you. But try it.

HOPE THIS HELPS =]

I use hot rollers. It's hard at first but once you get used to it it's really easy and you can do it w/o thinking :-)

A curling brush or curling iron will give you the style you want. If you were to get a "body perm" your hair would be much easier to curl with the heated tools. Think about it!!!

I have a corioliss hair straightener, and when i bought it they taught me how to curl my hair with it. All you have to do is flick your wrist up starting at the roots, and run it down your hair. It gives you perfect curls...almost too perfect...

Wait 24 after washing your hair. Keeping hair oily makes it easier to stay in the curl. If you must wash it, such as if your hair gets unbearably greasy, use only a very small amount of shampoo, and do not condition it.

Make time to curl your hair. If you want your hair curly the next day, start curling it the night before. Oftentimes, curls need time to "set."

Dampen your hair. If it is thick and stubborn, make it wetter, but it shouldn't be so loaded with water that it's dripping. Use a spray bottle filled with water as it'll allow you to better control the wetness.

Apply a product to help hold the curl, making sure to avoid applying any on the scalp or roots because it might weigh it down too much. Mousse, gel, and hairspray are most commonly used. Try different products and brands. This step is optional, though, because some people find that they don't need products at this stage, especially if their hair has natural volume or waves.

Use any of the following methods:

Determine the size you'd like the curls to be, and separate one thin lock of hair. If flattened, the width of this hair should be about a centimeter.

Coat the lock of hair in mousse. This is a difficult step. You don't want too little mousse or else it won't hold. If you use too much mousse, though, it will not dry. This takes practice.

Spray the lock with an extra strength-hold hairspray (or the strongest hairspray you can find).

Using a foam curler, roll the lock of hair into the curler TIGHTLY at the bottom up. The foam curlers should appear squished in the middle, like a dumbbell. Fasten securely at the scalp, using bobby pins if necessary.

Blow dry hair to allow mousse and hairspray to dry.

Keep curler/rollers in hair for as long as necessary (until they cool).

Take out curlers very carefully. Do not pull on the curler. Spin it in a circular motion to allow hair to get out. Be careful when hair gets stuck on the curler with hairspray. Don't rush this process; just be patient.

OR

Put your hair in braids. The number and thickness of braids will depend on how curly you want your hair. The important thing is to braid tightly, because a looser braid will create more of a wave than a curl.

Braiding hair that is slightly wet also helps when curling your hair.

* Use two or three large, thick French braids for thick, luxurious curls. The benefit of using two French braids is that you can wear them the day before, keep them on overnight, and have curls the next day--getting two distinct hair styles in a row.

* Braid one-inch strands for loose curls. Clip each one on your head so that they don't get mixed up.

* Use smaller braids for tight "crimped" or "afro" style curls.

OR

1. Let the curling iron heat up for several minutes. (Do this in advance if you know you won't have time to wait.)

2. Open the curling iron by holding your four fingers around the handle while pushing your thumb down on the moving part of handle.

3. Clip the curling iron onto a half an inch strand of hair at the top part of your hair, the part closest to the root, by lifting your thumb. Then slide it down to the tip of your hair. Be sure to stop before it completely slides off. Pull iron down to the tip of your hair.]]Start curling your hair in the direction you want it to curl in, for example curve it under if you want an inward curl.

4. Continue to curl your hair until you reach the top part of your hair and hold it there for 10 seconds.

5. Slowly and gently start to uncurl your hair until you reach a point where you can press your thumb down again without your hair holding your curling iron shut.

6. Open and close the curling iron until you ease it out of your hair.

7. Repeat the steps on all of your hair that you want curled.

8. Use fingers to tousle hair. Also use hairspray and a comb to slightly tease hair to create volume.

I find the braiding works best, but some people like it other ways.
