Dying your hair from blonde to brown?

I have naturally medium brown hair and i had light blonde highlights put in. Now i want to dye all of my hair back to brown. Any tips or tricks so that the blonde doesnt turn gray or green or doesnt fade as quick, without going to the salon.

Go with an ASH brown, not a Golden brown!

(Golden brown will make it a horrible redish-copper color and it won't look right)

Yeah, you have to do all of your hair. Try to go with a color that is a wee bit darker than your natural because it's going to fade.

The blonde should absorb the brown relatively better than your current hair.

Condition it before and after the process! You don't want to do it w/ dry/nonconditioned hair because it will absorb more at your tips...

Trust me!

Make sure your dye has an ash in it.

Try getting a permanent hair dye that matches your natural hair color. Just dye all your hair that color and it will blend in.

Go to a professional! They will probably have to dye it twice.

sample one piece of hair to start with, preferbly underneath so it isnt as noticable and check it doesnt go green aftr a few days and a normal hair wash, also if you go swimming regually go a day or so after you dye the section to see if the outcome is bad.

if all is okay - go 4 it! x

For a fool-proof job see a colorist.

I had brown hair with golden highlights. I got tired of them and decided to dye my own hair. What a mistake that was, I went for the color that matched my exact shade of brown but once the color took it turned my highlights to an ashy grey-like color. Lesson learned: If you're vain about your hair its worth spending a little extra to have it done right, after that you can touch it up on your own.

I agree with some of the others - use an ash color to avoid any brassiness with the highlights, and a tad darker than your natural color - no you will not need to do it twice.

Use a semi-permanent hair color such as ColorSpa from L'Oreal.

its less damaging, it will cover your whole hair and since you have blonde highlights, that part of your hair wont wash out, and it leaves you hair soft and shiny
