For about 2 weeks now, I've been darkening my medium blonde hair with otc products such as clairol in order to make it a medium to dark brown. It is pretty expensive to buy it every month and black tea only works for 24 hrs. Don't want to get it professionally colored and don't want to use henna- too messy. Any ideas; tips??

id go professional at a hair dressing college these are usually cheaper than salons or ask in salons if they need models some do

get a box or 2 of dye the colour u want
and get a friend to dye it for u

and its not dark after youve dyed it? try loreal. its usually really easy to darken your own hair. ive done it for years now.
